What better way to experience cretan countryside? Only 20minutes from the beach, but is a lifetime away from tourist playgrounds. A rural area dotted with olive trees, small villages and Kermes oak forrest. Close to Lasithea Plateau. Here is the perfect place for nature enthusiasts and ambling along one of the many mountain paths. You can visit the Agia Fotini cave, follow the E4 European path, climb Rosas gorge or just walk the narrow streets of Avdou village. A golf course is located close to the hotel. Different water sports can be found along the coast.

Enjoy the Cretan nature on horseback! The certified equestrian centre 'Odysseia Stables’ is providing professional lessons and daytrips for all levels and ages. For people with big love for horses we offer the Lasithi trail which is a treck from north to south for 6 days. Non riding family members or friends can join in other activities on site or arround the hotel.
We offer several activities to make your holiday unforgettable. For groups we can organize speleology (caving), as well mountain climbing. For experienced paragliders there is a take-off located right behind the hotel and a landing field down in the valley, both visible from our terrace.

Country Hotel Velani as a center for agritourism offers a variety of programs. It is located on a four hectare large estate with different gardens which are open for the public; like our vegetable garden, fruit garden, herb garden, flower garden and the Olive Grove. On our estate you will find a diverse range of Mediterranean trees and garden plants, wild flowers, herbs and mushrooms. Cooking classes are taking place on request .
